Resales woman | Witch |
The suitoress by Simon Vostre. It has been suggested that "lamoureuse" is a prostitute. But that seems quite unfair to me and furthermore that role is already taken by the welcoming woman. To me the young woman with her flower is simply the female counterpart of lamoureux.
Is it conceivable that woman could play the role of a "suitoress" in the dark Middle Ages? I don't know, but on the other hand, the tarot cards have no problem including "the popess" as a counterpart to the pope. There's a larger version here: Suitoress.
