La Grande Danse Macabre: Nun and Witch

Midwife and young girl Bigot woman and fool

The nun and witch printed by Garnier of Troyes after 1766. In fact the woodcut is a the copy of the merchant's wife and bailiff's wife that was produced by the family Oudot around 1649. Garnier used the same woodcut for the regent and knight's wife (but not for the merchant's wife and bailiff's wife). The woodcut that really depicted the nun and witch was used for the abbess and noblewoman. There's a larger version here: Nun and witch.
