This book was printed by Nicole de La Barre in 1518. Woodcuts of authors/authorities in front of their writing desks were common, but the presence of an angel with a scroll indicates that this particular woodcut was originally designed for the final authority in La Danse Macabre.
In fact it looks like a laterally inversed copy of
Vérard.
"Spes mea deus" means God is my hope. There's a larger version here: Mer des croniques.
