Low German / Low Saxon is alive on the Net. Lowlands has a grammar of the language. There are Low German dictionaries and Radio Bremen even offers a course in modern Low German.
One of the best medieval Low German books, i.e. Reynke Vos, (Reynard the Fox) is available along with Dutch and High German versions.

Thousands of old books have been digitized and can be downloaded in PDF format. Search Google Books for 'Dance of Death' or 'Totentanz' or 'Todtentanz'. The Internet Archive has fewer books, but on the other hand the scan-qualitiy is higher.
