The Old Woman

A.C. 1562
AC 1562 / Kunsthalle zu Kiel

D eath play a xylophone that seems to be made out of bones. The hourglass is broken. The picture has obviously inspired the unknown artist, who signed his works with AC and the year 1562 (picture to the right).

Variations: Birckmann replaces the long stalks with trees and adds a village in the background.
