From the black and white photos by Castelli. The most popular motive with mayor, canon and nobleman. Behind the dancers we see Lübeck, 1463 AD, and in the middle the church of St. Mary.

My personal favourite: the stained glass windows created by Mahlau in 1956.

To the left Death is kneeling before the cradle. The baby rises, catches the index finger of Death to the right and points to the word "DEO" (God). The text means "Glory to God in the High".

In the bottom of the picture we see Lübeck burning under the bombardment in 1942.

Look Death in the face: picture of skull from Tallinn before the restoration. Très Noir! Very Goth!
