Death to the king

    Zuem König

Hin ist dein Zäpter und die Cron,
undter meinen füessen ligen schon,
du muest jetz sterben, und zwar noch heit,
dir mues auch g'schehen wie ander leith.

    To the King.

Gone are your sceptre and crown.
They already lie beneath my feet.
You must die, and this very day.
The same must happen to you as to other people.

    Antwort.

Du thust fürwahr Dich gar nicht schämen,
Mir Zepter und Krone abzunehmen.
Keine Referenz(1) thust Du mir machen,
Du bist sehr grob in Deinen Sachen.

    Answer.

You are truly not ashamed at all
to take off my sceptre and crown.
You do not show me any reverence.(1)
you are very rude in your dealings.

Referenz / reverence . . .: I assume that "Referenz" should have been "Reverenz". This is what Wilhelm Fladt's transcription says. The king is hardly interested in Death writing him references.

"Reverenz machen" means to show your respect for a high-ranking person by the right combination of bowing and flattery.
