Death to the priest

    Zuem Priester.

Komb an der handt ich dich will fiehren.
gemach zuem tantz wir wollen spatzieren.
du muest auch hören unser mussig thon,
gar offt gepräthiget hast darvon.

    To the Priest.

Come, I will lead you by the hand.
We will stroll leisurely to the dance.
You must also hear our music's sound,
which you have often preached about.

The priest

    Antwort.

Wenn ich schon oft gepredigt davon,
So will ich doch noch nicht begehren,
Von Deinem traurigen Musikton:
Von Deiner Musik jetzt zu hören.

    Answer.

Even though I have often preached about it,
I still do not desire
to hear the sad music sound
of your music now.

Lines 2 and 3 are interchanged in Wilhelm Fladt's transcription of the priest's answer. This does in fact make sense, since it makes "davon" rhyme with "Musikton", and "begehren" with "hören".

The priest is the last of the five clerics. He is followed by a row af nineteen secular people.
